FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE POOL NOW OPEN!!JUST IN TIME FOR THE AUGUST LONG WEEKENDAugust 2, 2006 -- Well, it was a little bit of a struggle getting the pool open after its long winter hibernation, but we managed to do it before the all important August long weekend. Thank you to the condo owners and tenants for your patience and understanding!! It only took approximately a week to get the pool filled and treated, but then we found some equipment problems. First, we had the pool boiler inspected and found out it needs replacing. Not a high priority item for the summer, but something we will need to do prior to September as I'm sure it will be getting a little chilly for a swim. Next was a blocked skimmer. This was a little bit more of a concern as the regulations state that public pools must have two functioning skimmers as well as a main drain. We tried a few different methods to unblock the skimmer, but eventually had to cut the piping and have it re-installed. We did make some improvements when re-installing the piping, so the assembly could be disconnected without having to cut the piping in case of future blockage. We also had to make some minor repairs to the chlorinator system prior to opening the pool. Last, but not least; new signs, depth markings, and rescue equipment was purchased and put into place around the pool. The health inspector completed his inspection August 1st and gave us the go ahead to open. He even paid us a visit today to drop off the official Permit to Operate, which we will have proudly displayed in the Washroom Area. Now our efforts will be focused on the hot tub, which is currently closed. Upon start-up we were not able to maintain a water level in the hot tub. We are currently looking into a couple possible causes and remedies. We will keep you posted. But in the meantime, enjoy the pool!! For More Information Contact: |
